Licenses and Referral Fees
HomeGift® Realty, Inc. is a Massachusetts
for-profit corporation with principle offices located at 18 North Main Street,
Sherborn, MA 01770. HomeGift is licensed as a real estate broker in Massachusetts,
Florida and California1. We can make referrals
to licensed real estate brokers in all 50 of the United States. We do not list
properties or represent buyers in connection with our non-profit real estate
programs. Instead, we refer our participants to qualified, licensed agents in
their local areas and the agents pay a referral fee to us for doing so. HomeGift
retains 30% of the referral fees it earns from transactions. The remaining 70
percent is paid out to you, or, if you choose, may be shared with a non profit.
When you choose to make a donation to a non profit from your rebate, 100 percent
of your donation goes to the charity.
We Operate Several Different Programs:
HomeGift RewardsSM
This program allows any buyer and seller to make a charitable
contribution to any recognized tax exempt organization3 from
their rebate. If the non-profit to which you donate is eligible to receive
deductible contributions, your donation will qualify for a tax deduction. HomeGift Realty provides you with a rebate except in the ten states that do not permit
rebates. Please consult your tax professional for advice.
Realty RewardsSM
These programs are custom built and branded specifically for each of our non profit partners. They enable supporters to make
a charitable contribution from their rebate. If the non-profit to which you
donate is eligible to receive deductible contributions2,
your donation will qualify for a tax deduction. Realty Rewards provides you
with a rebate except in the ten states that do not permit rebates. Learn
more.
Please consult your tax advisor about the tax consequences of your rebate and/or
the deductibility of your donation in your personal circumstances.
RealtyPerksSM
This program is operated for WGBH public television in Boston. Payments we make to your public television station under our Realty Perks program are not tax deductible to you because we make those payments pursuant to a
licensing agreement with the station.
Legal
HomeGift is not a legal or tax advisor and nothing contained in the HomeGift Web sites should be relied upon as legal or tax advice. Please consult your lawyer or tax specialist with any questions you may have.
While our programs offer you, the supporter, a rebate on the real estate commissions from your transaction, some states do not permit brokers to rebate or share their real estate commissions with the consumers they represent, so in those states this component of a program may not apply.
